Read at home and go on new adventures through history - then meet at the museum to dive deeper into stories through connections with our collection.

Meetings are led by museum educators to facilitate talks and share about museum artifacts that enhance discussions about a topic in literature and/or film. Book club registrants receive a short video at the start of the month that explores an item from the museum’s collections relating to the text. Beyond the Book will meet at The Whaling Museum & Education Center of Cold Spring Harbor, located at 301 Main Street, Cold Spring Harbor, NY 11724.

Haunted Long Island Mysteries by Kerriann Flanagan Brosky - Join The Whaling Museum for a special session of Beyond the Book club where we’ll dive into Haunted Long Island Mysteries by Kerriann Flanagan Brosky. Brosky, award-winning author and historian, along with medium/paranormal investigator Joe Giaquinto will delight book club attendees with tales of their ghostly adventures which weave local history with the spiritual realm. Listen as they discuss the research and investigations behind the making of Kerriann’s latest book, Haunted Long Island Mysteries. During their lecture you will see a PowerPoint presentation of the places they have visited, and listen to EVP’s (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) along with fascinating Ghost Box recordings from their field investigations. Books will be available for purchase and signing following the presentation.
