Dr, Sanfilippo will perform and share the history behind songs of fisherfolk which accounts their work, life and hardships.
Using a concert and lecture format, Dr. Sanfilippo presents songs of Long Island eel spearers and clammers, Chesapeake oystermen, Maine lobstermen, fishermen of the British Isles, Sicily, and Maritime Canada, fishmongers, Long Island’s whale fishery, and the dangers and economic hardships facing fishermen in the 21st century. Each song is put into the context of the work it describes and the people who created it. Those in attendance are encouraged to sing and to engage the presenter in discussion. Suitable for all ages. Registration is required. Open to all.

The Main is located in the heart of Huntington Village, on the corner of Prospect Street and Main Street. The Main has a large auditorium and two smaller meeting rooms, one room for Children's programs and a conference room. There is also a Local History room located on the second floor and an Art Gallery located on the lower level.
