Join the library and LI Cares for a food distribution event at the Station Branch.
The Mobile Outreach Resource Enterprise (M.O.R.E.) van goes to various libraries, clinics, and other community partner organizations/events and distributes nonperishable, prepackaged emergency food bags (3 days/9 meals) to individuals in need. The goal of M.O.R.E. is to support individuals when their local neighborhood pantries are closed, or if there are no pantries in their area. Typically, we operate this program on site, outside, for 1-2 hours, and will visit once a month. Bags contain food that must be prepared/cooked by the individual (rice, pasta, canned beans, canned vegetables, canned fruits, non-perishable milk, cereal, etc.). No service offered by the food bank is at a cost. Any Nassau or Suffolk County resident in need has the right and ability to access emergency food. Individuals can register right at the van to receive food and information about their local food pantries.
