Uncover the often-forgotten history of Long Island’s institutional cemeteries, where thousands of individuals from Long Island's state hospitals, almshouses, and related institutions were laid to rest—many in numbered or unmarked graves. This program explores the history of these cemeteries, the significant preservation challenges they face today, and the ongoing efforts to document these sites, recover identities, and ensure that those buried are honored with dignity. Registration is required. Open to all.
Huntington Public Library Main Building
The Main is located in the heart of Huntington Village, on the corner of Prospect Street and Main Street. The Main has a large auditorium and two smaller meeting rooms, one room for Children's programs and a conference room. There is also a Local History room located on the second floor and an Art Gallery located on the lower level.
