Join Chef Brian Collins for an informative demonstration and tasting of a trio of 18th century dishes from the City Tavern!
The City Tavern was a restaurant and gathering place in colonial Philadelphia, just a short walk from Carpenter’s Hall, where the first Continental Congress met in 1774, and Independence Hall ,where the Congress moved later. Paul Revere, Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Richard Henry Lee and Peyton Randolph were among those who dined there. The first Fourth of July celebration was held there in 1777. The tavern burned in 1854 but was restored as part of the Bicentennial celebration. Registration is required. HPL cardholders only. There is a $5 non-refundable fee for this program.
The Main is located in the heart of Huntington Village, on the corner of Prospect Street and Main Street. The Main has a large auditorium and two smaller meeting rooms, one room for Children's programs and a conference room. There is also a Local History room located on the second floor and an Art Gallery located on the lower level.
