Dive into your next great read with The Whaling Museum's “Beyond the Book” club, which is co-sponsored by the library.

Museum educators connect the text to their collection, highlighting artifacts that can enhance your understanding of the book. Enjoy light snacks and drinks while you chat. Beyond the Book will meet at The Whaling Museum & Education Center of Cold Spring Harbor, located at 301 Main Street, Cold Spring Harbor, NY 11724.

 

This month we are reading Soundings: Journeying to Alaska in the Company of Whales, by Doreen Cunningham Mothers come is all shapes and sizes, 
we discover in this remarkable book. Part nature writing, part memoir, Soundings interweaves stories from Cunningham's spent with an Iñupiaq family in Alaska and a journey she made several years later to study grey whales with a mischievous toddler in tow. Celebrate the resiliency of migrating whale mothers facing climate change and Indigenous whale hunters facing a changing world.

About the branch

The Main is located in the heart of Huntington Village, on the corner of Prospect Street and Main Street. The Main has a large auditorium and two smaller meeting rooms, one room for Children's programs and a conference room. There is also a Local History room located on the second floor and an Art Gallery located on the lower level.
