Nicole Franz is a mixed-media artist who creates unique portraits with upcycled and pre-loved materials.

Nicole Franz is a mixed-media artist, living and working in her hometown on Long Island, New York. She holds a degree in Illustration and Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology and a Masters Degree in Art Education, as well as a NYS permanent art teaching certification. She has worked in the fashion industry, music industry, and has taught various art forms for over 25 years. Currently Nicole is an elementary art teacher, a visiting artist educator.. as well as a professional artist working out of her Long Island studio. Her true passion is portraiture and upcycled/recycled art. Nicole’s artwork is created using upcycled and recycled materials. Nicole is also a member of the LI artist collective 'Art That Matters'. Her work has been exhibited in galleries from Brooklyn to the Hamptons.

"I create mixed media art with paint, ink, and pre-loved materials. My art is my outlet. I never know what my pieces are going to look like until they are complete. I love that about my work. I’m inspired by complex, strong,  emotional, brave and beautiful people. I want to encourage people to be empowered. Mental health and mental health awareness is important to me. I try to capture this in my art. I am raising daughters and I want to encourage them to be kind, happy, fearless and supported. When I am working in the studio, the world around me shuts down.
The work consumes me. The process is therapeutic."
