Where do I find objects to print?
If you want to use objects that have already been designed, you can go to thingiverse.com and search using keywords. Once you've found what you want, download the files and send them to us at hpl3dp@gmail.com.

Can I design my own objects?
Yes! We recommend Tinkercad or Fusion360, both are free online programs.

What is the material you print with made of?
We print only with PLA, which is a vegetable-based material that is derived from cornstarch. It is fully biodegradable and non-toxic.

How much does it cost to print an item?
The only thing you pay for is the PLA filament you use. We charge $0.50 per hour of print time. A typical print can take four (4) or five (5) hours.
Who operates the printer?
Library staff will input your design into the printer and see that it runs correctly. At this time, patrons can watch the process, but not operate the equipment.
How long will it take for me to receive my prints?
Generally, prints are ready within one week.
How large can my print be?
Our printer can produce objects up to 11 x 11 x 15 inches. However, your print time must be less than 12 hours so that we can accomplish the print during normal library business hours. Because of this, certain objects will not fall into the range of acceptability.
Is there anything you will not print?
We will not print objects that are prohibited by law (weapons, etc.)

3-D Printing Policy Agreement and Upload

1. This service is available to all patrons; however, priority will be given to Huntington Public
Library cardholders.
2. All submitted files will be reviewed by library staff to ensure compliance with this
agreement and with all other library policies prior to printing.
3. All files will be printed by library staff.
4. A patron may have only one job submitted or running at any given time.
5. Files should be in the .STL format.
6. Prints are limited in size to 11 in. W x 11 in. D x 15 in. H.
7. Our color selection may change from time to time. Please inquire about available colors
at the time you submit your request.
8. Your item must be able to be printed in 12 hours or less.
9. We will notify you when your item is ready to be picked up. Items not picked up within
2 weeks become the property of the library. Items must be paid for at the time of pick-up.
10. There is a charge of $0.50 per hour of printing time (billed in 15 minute increments). You
will be emailed a cost estimate ahead of time that you must approve before your item is
printed.
11. Users may not print items that are prohibited by law or do not comply with our Library
policy.
12. User holds the Huntington Public Library harmless for any damages arising out of the use
of any item printed on our 3-D printer.

Please keep in mind colors can only be changed on a horizontal plane and will change the color for everything at that height.
