Learn how whalers spent Christmas when they were at sea
It’s the most wonderful time . . . or was it for sailors? Go back in time and find out what an American whaler at sea could expect on December 25. Join the Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum as they share a variety of diary quotes, images and interesting facts to help paint an intimate view of how Christmas was observed for whalers at sea.
The Station Branch is located south of the LIRR train station on New York Avenue (Route 110). It has public computers for children, teen and adults, a large community room on the second floor as well as five smaller meeting rooms and a classroom style training room.
